, Phillaur was founded in 1997 by Shri Prakash Singh Badal, C.M. Punjab with the prime objective of providing excellent educational facilities and quality education to students in general and to the wards of Punjab Police in particular. The school is run on the Public School lines and aims at excellence in every discipline of life. 

At present it is a residential cum Day Boarding School but has all the infrastructure to grow into a full fledged Residential School and qualify for the membership of the elite club of the Indian Public School Conference. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi for the Secondary (X) and Senior Secondary (XII) Examinations and provides a wide range of choice of subject combinations in Science, Commerce and Art channels.

AIMS

At Maharaja Ranjit Singh Police Public School, we aim at a vigorous pursuit of excellence in academics, extra curricular activities, games, sports and character building by providing all-round, meaningful and liberal education. Our objectives are :-

LOCATION

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Police Public School nestles in bowl in famous historic fort of Maharaja Ranjit Singh fort at Phillaur on the banks of river Satluj in the vicinity of Punjab Police Academy on the National Highway number one.  Phillaur is situated on the Sher Shah Marg 15 kilometer from Ludhiana and 45 kilometer from Jalandhar city.

 

CAMPUS

The school campus is spread over the vast area of verdant splendor in the North-East of the Punjab Police Academy in the sylvan surroundings. The campus accommodates the Academic Block, Administrative Block, Sports complexes and gardens in addition to the aesthetically designed main building.  An ecofriendly environment is developed by creating mini bio-park pockets, lush green Golf courts, Swimming pool, Shooting ranges.  The screen campus is free from emery type of pollution and is highly conducive for concentration and study without any disturbances and destructions.

STAFF

The Academic and Administrative head of the school is Principal.  The teaching staff consists of highly qualified and trained teachers who have the necessary attributes and aptitude to work.  

 

MESS

The school has a well-furnished and fully equipped mess. All the boarders and day boarders eat together in the same hall. The food served is wholesome and well balanced as per the requirements of the growing children based on principles of dietary and nutrition. 

 

THE HOUSE SYSTEM

The students are grouped under four houses namely  (1) Sham Singh Attari (2) Hari Singh Nalwa (3) Jassa Singh Ahluwalia (4) Akali Phula Singh .  The House Master acts as the local guardian of the children under his care who is assisted by House Tutors. True to the Public School spirit, the school accepts the importance of Protectoral and Monitorial systems.  House captain and House appointments actively assist the House Masters in the functioning the House. All competitions are organized as Inter House Activities.  It brings a healthy competition, so vital to spot the talent and to inculcate qualities of leadership.

 

 

SPORTS AND GAMES

The school is very well-equipped to train students in Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Gymnastics, Swimming, Foot Ball, Shooting, Athletics, Equestrian Sports, Golf and other indoor games. Highly talented, renowned and high achievers in their respective fields coaches from the Punjab Police are deputed to coach the students with an aim to provide highly specialized and scientific training to the students.

 

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

The school activities or curriculum is broadly covered under the three heads viz. Academics, Sports and games and Co-curricular activities.

 

EXAMINATIONS

The school prepares the students for the All India Secondary School Examination and Senior School Certificate Examination following the 10+2 system of education. The medium of instruction is English with adequate emphasis on Punjabi and Hindi.

 

PROGRESS REPORTS AND PROMOTIONS

A report on the Academic performance, behavior and conduct is communicated to the parents at the end of every term. The promotions are considered on the basis of over all results.  A failed student can be retained in the same class.  Subsequent failures entail withdrawal from the school.  

EXTRA COACHING

Private tuitions are discouraged.  We may arrange remedial classes for weak students.

 

CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

The school provides expert career guidance and counseling under a highly qualified Counselor Dr. Amrita Kumar.  It will help them in selecting career in medicine, engineering, armed forces, the civil services, journalism and so on.
The school provides intensive training and coaching for entrance examinations for Medical and Engineering colleges, the
National Defense Academy and the Merchant Navy. The students are admitted in classes from Pre-Nursery to XI as Day-boarders and Day scholars and from 2nd to XI as boarders with the commencement of every academics session in the month of April every year.

 

PRIZES

There is a liberal scheme for awarding prizes to the high achiever to inculcate a spirit of healthy competition in studies, games, curricular and co-curricular activities.

 

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The Application cum Registration form is attached to the school prospectus which can be obtained from the school office by remitting Rs.200/- by Demand Draft in favour of 250/-. The prospectus can also be obtained at the school  cash counter during the office hours on all working days.  The date of Admission Test will be notified to the parents who have registered their wards.  The students seeking admission to preparatory class must be more than 3 years of age on the first of April of the year in which the admission is sought.  For other classes from K.G. onwards the same age limits are reckoned by adding the number of years relevant.  For admission the date of birth recorded in the school leaving certificate issued by the last attended school will be accepted.

 

ENTRANCE TEST

A candidate seeking admission will be tested in English, Mathematics, Science, Punjabi and Hindi. The general standard prevalent in respective class which the candidate has already cleared will form the base of the test.
A candidate seeking admission in XI class will be tested in the subjects he offers for his study.  Due weightage will also be given to the marks secured in the Secondary School Certificate Examination.

 

INTERVIEW AND INTELLIGENCE TEST

The candidate will be interviewed along with his parents to assess the I.Q., General awareness, Personality traits, Aptitude, Educational, Social, Economic and Cultural backgrounds.

 

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS

The students finally selected are issued joining instructions.  Every student is given a number known as House Number.  All correspondence pertaining to the student should bear this number and all articles brought from home should be marked with this number with indelible marking ink or embroidered.

 

PROOF OF DATE OF BIRTH

Any of the following documents will be accepted as an authentic proof of date of birth of child seeking admission.
An extract from the Register of Births kept by the competent authority i.e.

  1. Chief Medical Officer

  2. Registered Nursing Home/Maternity Hospital

  3. An extract from the Government Hospital where the child was born and birth recorded.

  4. An extract from the part II order in case of the child whose father serves in the Defence Services

Documents required to be submitted at the time of admission

a.  Certificate of proof of date of birth.

b. School Leaving Certificate in case the student was admitted in any other school.

 

THE SCHOOL FEE

The school fee and other charges are to be deposited in 6 installments.  The first at the time of admission, the second in first week of June. The students who are already on the school rolls will deposit the first installment for the succeeding academic year in the second week of April.
The parents who want to withdraw their wards will intimate in the first week of March in the succeeding academic year.  In case they don’t do so security will be forfeited and fee till date be charged.
The parents who want to withdraw their wards in the middle of the session will intimate in writing one month in advance or deposit one month fee in lieu of. In case the fee is not deposited by the due date a late fee fine of Rs. ……….per day will be charged.  In case fee is not deposited within a month of the due date, the name of the child will be struck off the school rolls.  The child may be re-admitted after paying the admission  fee on the discretion of the school administration.  In case the student is expelled from the school the fee deposited will not be refunded.  The parents will have the option of paying the fees in lump sum.

MEDICAL

No child suffering from the following diseases will be admitted to the school :-  

a.  Epilepsy

b. Asthma

c.  Hearing Deformities

d. Colour Blindness

e.  Any Contagious disease including Skin diseases

f.   Bed wetting.

Cancellation of any fact can lead to the expulsion of the students.  There are facilities to provide first aid to the day scholars and day boarders.  In case of need they can be referred to the C.M.O. of the Academy Hospital.

The ailments and injuries are treated by the doctor of the Punjab Police Academy.  In case of specialized consultations on the recommendation of the Medical Officer, the child will be referred to the specialist.  The expenditure of such specialized treatment is debited to the student’s account.

 

VISITING RULES FOR HOSTELLERS 

The parents may visit the school on last Sunday of every month and meet between 10.00 a.m. and 1200 hours.  During the working hours students are divided into groups and sub groups and are scattered around the campus, therefore parents are requested not to phone the students.  In case of any emergency or under very special circumstances parents may call their wards on Sundays between 1100 to 1300 hours.

 

LEAVE RULES

As the training schedule is very tight the boarders are discouraged to avail any kind of leave during the term time.  It is expected of the parents to apply for leave for their wards under very special circumstances such as marriage of their real brother or sister or family functions.

 

POCKET MONEY

The students are not allowed to keep money with them nor are they allowed to keep with them eatables of any kind.  The students are not allowed to keep any kind of ornaments, costly electronic gadgets such as Video Games and Walk Man or Transistors etc. Students below 7th standard are not permitted to wear watches.  They are expected to deposit such articles with their House Masters.

The dates of Examination, Unit Tests, Mid Term and Terminal Breaks and other holidays are in corporated in the school diaries.
